Steel batten suppliers for Adelaide builders.
Batten suppliers Adelaide builders trust. Kspan supplies high-tensile steel ceiling battens, roof battens and top hat battens — manufactured in Adelaide for residential, commercial and industrial projects. AS/NZS compliant, fabricated for one job: yours.

Our products
At Kspan, we supply high-tensile steel battens to builders, tradies and home owners for residential, commercial and industrial projects. Our two core product lines — ceiling battens and roof battens (also known as top hats or purlins) — are manufactured in Adelaide to Australian Standards, sized for whatever the job calls for.
Metal battens are made of steel that’s treated for corrosion resistance, often alloyed with zinc or aluminium for long working life on the building. Kspan battens are fabricated to last and retain their qualities over a long time, used in ever-growing quantities in the construction of homes, commercial buildings, sheds and specialised structures.
See full specifications for our ceiling battens and roof battens (top hats).
The Kspan product range
Three steel batten product lines, each engineered for a specific job in the build:
01 / Ceiling
22mm Ceiling Batten
22mm Ceiling batten in top hat profile, 0.42mm BMT. Sized to carry ceiling lining (plasterboard, timber, decorative panels) across the structural frame above.
02 / Roof
40MM ROOF BATTEN
40mm Roof batten in top hat profile, 0.55mm BMT. Sized to carry roof sheeting, wind load and foot traffic across the structural frame below.
Benefits for your project
Across all three product lines, Kspan steel battens give builders the same set of advantages on the job:
Range of applications.
Residential, commercial, industrial. Roof, ceiling, walls, soffits. One supplier, three product lines, every standard size.
Broader spans possible.
Steel battens carry more load per metre than timber. Wider truss centres, fewer fixings, faster framing.
Range of gauges.
BMTs from 0.42mm (ceiling) to 0.55mm (roof). Choose the gauge that matches your span and loading.
Screw fastening.
Self-drilling screws straight into the steel. No pre-drilling, no splitting, no waste. Faster on site, stronger hold.
Quick and efficient install.
Pre-cut to length, dimensionally consistent batten-to-batten, stackable in flat-pack delivery. Less time on site.
ZINCALUME® and galvanised.
Corrosion-resistant steel options for long working life. Compatible with most sheeting and lining manufacturers.

Applications
Kspan battens are suitable for use in residential, commercial and industrial projects as a secondary member supporting roof or wall cladding. Typical applications include:
Roof and ceiling battens are designed in accordance with AS 4055 — Wind Loads for Housing, with span tables published for each product.
Australian Standards we work to
Every Kspan batten is manufactured and span-rated to the Australian Standards that govern cold-formed steel, loading codes, and roof/wall cladding design. The full list:
If you’re specifying battens for a build, these are the documents your engineer will reference. Kspan’s span tables are designed against these standards so the numbers translate directly to your spec.
